LAGUNA SECA DEBRIEF (IMSA)
P9 in qualifying and a final result as P6 was what Frederik and his team Whelen Cadillac Racing achieved at the legendary Laguna Seca circuit in California. Once again, they had to face the maximum challenge from the competition in the top class in IMSA.
"In qualifying, we were challenged by the car understeering too much, and hence difficult to get the most out of it. Generally through the weekend, we seemed faster in race spec than qualifying. That also became clear in the race making our way through the field.
"
"During the race, I had a good start and good lap times, so I'm actually quite satisfied with that. We fought closely for P5 in the end. I do feel we maximised our result this weekend with the pace we had.
"
"I am incredibly happy that my team Whelen Cadillac Racing decided to put me behind the wheel in qualifying. It's really good learning. And it's always super cool to get a really potent racing car on new tires and 20 liters of fuel, especially on a track like Laguna Seca! It doesn't always go as we plan and hope for. I read a quote somewhere saying: "a winner is just a loser who tried one more time." For me, it means that you have to keep fighting, fighting, and fighting. Our time will come. It is my strong conviction and one that I share with Whelen Cadillac Racing.
"
"Now we look forward to Le Mans on June 14-15, which is the highlight of the entire season for both the team and Cadillac Racing. We are looking forward to it all - the preparations and the driving. But it was a huge pleasure to take on Laguna Seca and once again have a great teammate by my side. Jack Aitken. Thanks mate! I'm really looking forward to coming back. Laguna for me is what Monaco and Zandvoort are to me in Europe. And that simply spells out one word – awesome, Vesti beams broadly.
