OFF SEASON WITH FREDERIK

"

Since my F3 season ended, I have been doing some very interesting stuff. I have spent quite some time in the Mercedes F1 simulator. This has been a great experience for me to learn from the very best engineers. I also joined the team on track during the post season test, where I was watching George Russell driving and was allowed to attend the meetings and debriefings. Listening to George’s feedback and learning about the way a world class Formula 1 driver works has been hugely beneficial to me. I felt so welcomed by the whole team. A huge thanks to Gwen Lagrue and Mercedes!

After the days together with the F1 crew it was finally my turn to drive in the F2 car with ART Grand Prix. The 3 days of testing went really well and I learned a lot. I trust it will be of great use for me in the 2022 season which I definitely plan to be a part of! It is going to be a steep learning curve, but I believe I can go all the way with the right support from the great people around me. There will be 3 days of testing in Bahrain before the first race.

I have also tried to actively learn and participate in life away from racing. I have started in a part time job, alongside my physical training and simulator driving. I have begun working for my partner Join Jet, which is a private jet company close to where I live. It all started as an internship, but very quickly it became a great way for me to switch off from racing and also learn to earn my own money. I am working as Ground Crew. My main job is to make sure that the jets are clean both in- and outside. I put in a great effort and take pride in delivering a good job. And I can tell you that I find it a lot cooler polishing a jet than my father’s cars!!

Very soon the pages in our calendars will be displaying 2022 and I’m very excited about the year just around the corner. I might be looking to move to the UK in the near future, to stay around Brackley and also to train more with my trainer John Noonan from Hintsa Performance.

This was a small résumé of some very cool months full of different experiences!
