Championship finally decided at Mugello

The last race of the season at Mugello was something of a thriller! With two teammates equal in points the stage was set for a real drama! Vesti knew in advance that if he could stay in the points, the overall 4th place in the championship would still be his. In order for Vesti to make it to the podium and reach 3rd place, he needed to finish 4 positions ahead of Pourchaire. That didn't happen, but Vesti maintained the overall 4th place in the championship. As predicted before the race, Vesti also became an essentiel player "in the game" in order for Piastri to secure the championship with only 3 points ahead of Pourchaire.

"I was fast today, but I didn't risk it all. In the beginning of the race I fought with Hughes and Verschoor who had nothing to lose. Today, the overall position in the championship was the most important to me. I knew I had the speed so that later I would be able to move up through the field. Unfortunately, early on, we seemed locked into what resembled a "DRS train", where everyone is very close and with their rear wings open. My left front tire suffered quite heavily and I had a lot of understeer, I only needed a few tenths of af second to catch up with Hughes and trying to get past him but I didn't make it. But with Oscar Piastri right behind me I was also fully aware that any unnecessary risk taking on my part was not an option. The Championship was Piastris with Logan Sargeant already out of the race on the very first lap. I think we all sympathized with Sargeant's very unfortunate incident and premature exit from the race!!

I'm now returning home to Denmark after 3 busy weeks of back to back races. I have been looking forward to getting back in my own simulator again, but now that it's all over, I am afraid it's going to be somewhat of an empty feeling and anticlimax to get back home . It's been such a hectic season with great intensity, and now it's all over! Surely there is going to be a lot to digest for me. Lots of people that I need to thank  and that I'm deeply endebted to - sponsors, my team Prema Racing and people close to me. And then I also have to start thinking about my future.
