Danish Motorsport Award 2021

Once more, this year's Award ceremony in Danish motorsport had Frederik Vesti as a nominee. The award is an audience award, which means that all Danes can vote. When the excitement was unleashed via the digital media, again this year it was Vesti’s name that was in the envelope. A happy Vesti could be seen with his hands in the air sending a big THANK YOU to all the fans who had voted for him.

First of all, thank you to the Danish Automobile Sports Union for nominating me for the award. It's an honest thing to be voted for by your fans. Racing Driver of the Year is an award that I take as a recognition of last year's season. There were fluctuations in my performance that I was not entirely proud of. I had my own battles to fight, but with the last two victories in Mugello and Monza in the two feature races I did get to show that I belong in the absolute top. It's probably my strong come back in the final part of the season that has helped me win this award. But the price is far from mine alone. It also belongs to Prema and my engineer Pedro Matos, who throughout the season lifted me to new heights and gave me the opportunity to succeed. And then it belongs to my partners and sponsors who pay the huge bills that makes my racing possible. And my manager who tirelessly convinces my partners to stay on year after year. I experience tremendous faithfulness from my team and partners.

However, Vesti is also quite aware that the Danish fans may have been affected by the recently announced agreement with Mercedes AMG F1, when they voted for him.

I happily accept that a number of factors played into my hands with the many votes cast in my favor ;-) I am right now standing on the stepping stone of a new season with ART and with Mercedes behind me, which is all new and will be incredibly exciting. So exciting that I can hardly get out of bed fast enough every single day! Prior to the season, I got the best coach possible to build me up and take me to that next level, John Noonan from Hintsa performance in London. Never before have I felt my body so intensely, weighing my food with NASA like precision and felt a whole new physical strength. I hope that with my daily contact with my many fans and with my own preparations and efforts, I can inspire and be a motivator in helping others see and realize that with hard work, faith and dedication living your dream is indeed a true possibility.
